General Summary

The Logistics Fleet Manager is responsible for the daily management of transportation activities. This position involves overseeing a team of around 40 drivers, guaranteeing timely deliveries to stores, maximizing the use of tractor units, managing inbound reverse logistics, and upholding driver safety and adherence to regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• 80% The majority of the position revolves around ensuring driver safety and compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations. Your duties will include managing timely delivery schedules, maximizing the use of tractors, and ensuring accurate driver compensation.
• 20% One-fifth of the responsibilities require establishing solid connections with drivers through comprehension of their work-life equilibrium, fulfilling their needs, and conducting regular in-person meetings each quarter. Additionally, managing driver education, maintaining driver retention rates, minimizing idle time, enhancing fuel efficiency (miles per gallon), managing load dispatch tasks, monitoring equipment usage, and ensuring efficient utilization of driver management platforms are included. Evaluating the safety performance of drivers plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety within the organization.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

• Demonstrated leadership in managing dedicated transportation operations and comprehensive knowledge of FMCSA/DOT rules and regulations
• Understanding of the Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) initiative is essential
• Proficient communication (both written and spoken), active listening, interpersonal conflict resolution, and creative problem-solving abilities
• Excellent focus on particulars, robust preparation, and adept organizational skills
• Proficiency in analyzing driver records, managing hours of service, and comprehending specialized fleet logistics
• Proficiency in software designed to enhance transportation efficiency for tasks such as route planning, bid management, timetable organization, and monitoring freight movement
• Being capable of thriving in a demanding atmosphere
• Skilled in using Microsoft Office programs
• Openness to travel a maximum of 10%

Work Experience & Education

• A preference for a Bachelor's degree in Business or Logistics is desired, or equivalent experience of 1-3 years in transportation operations within the retail, manufacturing, carrier, or logistics sectors is necessary
• Preference is given to candidates with 1 to 3 years of experience overseeing a minimum of 40 drivers
• Experience in managing drivers on-site is preferred, ideally ranging from 1 to 3 years
• At least one year of familiarity with Driver Dispatch Management Systems is required, such as McLeod, TMW, Telogis, Dispatch Tracks, and AS400
