Position Summary
As a support to the Store Manager, the Retail Operations Associate is responsible for preserving a clean, well-managed, and customer-focused store setting. This role involves aiding in store operations, supervising team members, ensuring the proper presentation of merchandise, managing financial transactions, and assisting in maximizing profitability while safeguarding company assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer exceptional customer assistance through greetings, responding to queries, and handling point-of-sale equipment.
- Be responsible for opening and closing the store on a biweekly basis.
- Offer assistance with creating employee timetables, welcoming new hires, conducting instructional programs, and ensuring policy adherence.
- Implement procedures for unloading, arranging, renewing, and circulating goods according to organizational protocols.
- Assist with arranging merchandise for optimal presentation, implementing planograms, and assembling eye-catching displays.
- Improve inventory control through the reduction of damages, markdowns, and inaccuracies in scanning.
- Uphold financial honesty through cashier reliability, key management, and cash transaction supervision.
- Validate repayments, authorize exceptions, reconcile cash registers, and perform bank transactions.
- Take charge of overseeing store operations during the Store Manager's absence.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
- Impressive aptitude for interpersonal communication and connection
- Proficient problem-solving and coordination skills
- Competence in basic arithmetic operations like calculating percentages and managing cash transactions is a valuable skill set
- Skill in understanding and analyzing operational documentation and safety guidelines
- Comprehension of the regulations governing inventory management and facility control
- Knowledge of cash register systems and compiling data analyses
- Skill in operating standard equipment found in retail environments, including handheld scanners and box cutters
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or an equivalent credential is greatly valued for this position
- Must have a minimum of 12 months of retail experience
- To have six months of supervisory experience is preferred for this role
Working Conditions
- Consistent engagement in walking, standing, bending, and kneeling
- Using equipment like scanners, U-boats, and pricing guns as part of routine operations
- Regularly lifting objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 55 pounds
- Periodic climbs of up to 6 feet with the assistance of ladders
- Being in a swiftly moving setting with moderate noise levels
- - A situation might arise where the individual is expected to utilize their own vehicle for tasks such as depositing money at the bank and being present at meetings
